Every year, a part of me still misses Fright Furnace at Sloss Furnace—one of Alabama’s most haunted and iconic historical sites. 🖤
There was something truly unforgettable about that place. The energy, the artistry, the intensity—it was more than just a haunted house; it was an experience. I had the honor of being a haunter there for a short time, and through that, I met some incredibly creative, passionate people—some of whom are no longer with us, but whose spirits still linger in the memories we shared.
I’ll never forget the practical effects I learned—like using oatmeal to create rotting skin textures (as awful as it felt going on 🤣). That place taught me that horror is an art form, and that stuck with me ever since.
One part of the attraction that always stood out to me was the tunnel—it was pure sensory chaos in the best way. Between the spinning illusions, twisted clowns, and eerie beauty throughout, Fright Furnace had a vibe I’ve never found anywhere else.
To honor those memories, I created an original piece inspired by that atmosphere—and here’s a little bonus: it glows under black light, just like the experience itself. It’s my tribute to the magic, mayhem, and legacy of a place that will always have a place in my heart.
